Structural podiatry

Structural Podiatry is a detailed assessment and treatment approach that looks at how the bones and joints of your feet and lower limbs align under load.

Through weight-bearing X-rays, Edward measures specific alignment angles and identifies how these may contribute to pain, stiffness, or movement issues.

Treatment focuses on restoring intrinsic foot function using gentle joint mobilisation and corrective exercises. Orthotics are prescribed only when needed to assist this process.

Suitable for conditions including heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy, arthritis, knee pain, flat feet, high arches and many more.

A wide range of footware options

We have a selection of podiatrist approved footwear from reputable brands such as Vionic, Revere, Scholl Orthoheel and more. These shoes are designed with features such as heel support, arch support, forefoot support, cushioned soles, breathable materials, and adjustable straps. They also come in various styles such as sneakers, boots, sandals, thongs, heels and slides for women; and casual, dress, slides, thongs and sandals for men.

We also offer footwear assessments by our experienced and friendly podiatrists. These assessments involve taking a history of your foot and leg concerns, previous footwear assessments and identifying areas of wear on your shoes. We will then measure your feet and recommend the best shoes for you based on your foot shape, size, width and activity level. We will also advise you on how to care for your shoes and when to replace them.

Foot Rehabilitation

Foot rehabilitation focuses on restoring movement, strength, and balance after injury, pain, or long-term strain. Just like other parts of the body, the feet and ankles can benefit from targeted rehabilitation to improve function and reduce discomfort.

At EC Podiatry, rehabilitation programs are tailored to your individual needs. Following a detailed assessment — including, where needed, weight-bearing X-rays — we create a plan that may include gentle joint techniques, flexibility training, balance work, and progressive strengthening exercises.

This approach aims to:

  • Improve mobility and reduce stiffness

  • Support healing of tendons, ligaments, and joints

  • Build strength and control in the foot and ankle

  • Reduce the risk of re-injury and ongoing pain

Foot rehabilitation may help with a wide range of conditions, including heel pain, ankle sprains, tendon irritation, arthritis, and changes in foot posture such as flat feet or high arches. It can also be beneficial for people recovering from long-standing foot pain who want to regain confidence in their movement.

Our goal is to give you practical strategies and guided exercises that restore natural function and support long-term results.

Orthotic therapy

Orthotics are custom or prefabricated devices designed to support the foot and improve comfort during movement. They can play a valuable role for some people, particularly when additional support or offloading is needed to help reduce strain on joints, tendons, or pressure areas.

At EC Podiatry, we assess each patient carefully before recommending orthotics. Our approach prioritises restoring natural function through movement and rehabilitation first. However, where orthotics are appropriate, we provide tailored solutions to match your specific needs and activities.

Orthotics may be recommended in cases such as:

  • Structural changes that require extra support

  • Foot or ankle pain aggravated by standing or walking

  • Pressure areas or thickened nails at risk of injury

  • Certain arthritic conditions where joint protection is important

Our clinic has a podiatrist with a special interest in orthotic therapy, ensuring you have access to the most suitable option if this form of treatment is required.

The goal is always to choose the treatment that supports your long-term mobility and confidence, whether that involves orthotics, rehabilitation, or a combination of approaches.

Foot care and diabetes

Find your perfect pair

People living with diabetes are at higher risk of developing foot complications due to changes in circulation, sensation, and skin health. Regular podiatry care plays an important role in monitoring these changes and reducing the risk of more serious problems.

At EC Podiatry, our diabetic foot care services include:

  • Comprehensive foot assessments, including circulation and nerve testing

  • Nail and skin care to reduce the risk of ulcers or infections

  • Advice on footwear, daily foot checks, and injury prevention

  • Management of pressure areas, callus, and corns

Early identification and management of changes in the feet can significantly reduce the risk of complications. Ongoing podiatry care also provides education and support to help you manage your foot health with confidence.

If you have diabetes, it’s recommended that you see a podiatrist for a foot check at least once a year, or more often if you are considered at higher risk. Our goal is to keep your feet healthy, safe, and comfortable so you can continue your daily activities with confidence.
